Welcome Back to Surviving High School

Welcome Back to Surviving High School

Today in my blog I am going to be talking about how to be a good student. If you are like me, then you like to stay on top of things. If you aren't like me, then you might want to consider reading this. All throughout my life as a student even before high school I wanted to do well. As most of us do, I wanted to make the people in my life proud of me. If you want to do well then you have to do the work. I get it, you may be tired of school and the endless hours of work that come with it. Believe me, we've all been there at some point in our lives or getting there. The best advice I can give to you is to do the work. I can say even though I wanted to do well I got tired of the work by senior year. When you think about it, you have to think about the good things to come. Do I wish I could change some of the things I did in high school? Of course I do, but that's a part of learning. As a student you do need to make some mistakes. If I've learned anything from high school it's that mistakes are what help you learn the best. What good would it do if we never did make mistakes? You have to do the work in order to succeed in this world. I understand it gets tiring but you can do it. The best way to be a good student is get things done, study for tests, and ALWAYS turn stuff in. Even if you have a teacher who is lenient on due dates, get it done and turned in. You don't want to procrastinate and wait until last minute. If you ever have your doubts about succeeding, then talk to someone. Believe me when I say this, I constantly have my doubts about my future and doing well. The best way to stay positive about it is to talk to the people closest to you. The ones you know best will be the ones to lift you up in times of doubt. Another good way to be a good student is to always show up to class. I know I'm not a morning person and hated thinking about getting up at 6:30 every morning to go to school all day. Showing up to class is another key to being a good student. I admit, I didn't show up everyday. Some days you just don't feel good or need to catch up. Having a day off every now and then is certainly okay. Just make sure you don't get behind in your classes or you will get overwhelmed. Just know you can do this and you will do this. I hope you enjoyed the second part of my blog and  I would like to leave you with a quote. "I like the challenge of trying different things and wondering whether it's going to work or whether I'm going to fall flat on my face"- Johnny Depp

  1. Great advice on how to stay on track. How did you manage to keep all your devices off and stay focused? I know I could never do that

    1. I just tried my best to not get distracted by it. I would leave it on facing down on my desk. You just have to really want to do well and you can do anything.

  2. Great advice! I do agree that you learn from your mistakes and it helps you learn. How did you stay focused through your senior year? I know sometimes it was hard for me to stay focused.

    1. Thank you. I just tried to think of the positive things to come if I stayed focused and did my work. People tend to do better when they have something positive to look forward to. I also tried to keep and open mind. There is nothing you can't do.
